Despite being an "evil genius" as you put it, you've gotta love him. He has to be one of the most cleaver characters I've ever read about, and I've read a great many books. These books really make you think, and I like that. It keeps you hooked until the end. I literally couldn't put any of them down until I'd finished them. As you said, they gradually take on a more mature note, making it appropriate for all ages. I love the Artemis Fowl series! Despite being an “evil genius” as you put it, you’ve gotta love him. A sense of humor and the knack for telling a good story know no boundaries of age!
